Tina Tornade

Influences
Tina Tornade is an artist for whom music is an observational tool, an outlet and a vehicle for transformation. Through her sets and productions, she brings forth cathartic movements, sowing sounds with emotional intensity that are sure to reap the whirlwind. Her demanding and free musical practice seeks to generate spaces of liberation, power and sharing.
DJ, producer and writer for Consentis, Tina is also resident at the Glazart in Paris and for the After’o’clock evenings. An inveterate collector and passionate digger, she shares her musical nuggets on her Tornado Warning shows on Oroko Radio and Zone Rouge on Rinse France. For her, these radio spaces are sound and political laboratories, where she gives voice to voices often under-represented in the electronic landscape.
Between the raw roughness of Detroit techno and the haunting polyrhythms of the Congo, Tina Tornade’s music travels between Mental Techno, Batida, New York House and Latin Techno. Her precision mixes and sense of collage and improvisation create patchworks of sound that are sunny, generous and powerfully communicative. For Tina, making people dance means telling a story – a collective, embodied and resolutely alive story.
