Astan is a French-Malian DJ and selecta who thrives above all on rap and its sprawling extensions. Her sensibility lies in the world of black music, between soul spiritual and futuristic Afro beat. Her sets explore a rich palette of sounds, from the Gulf of Guinea to the Horn of Africa, with a particular focus on emergence and hybridisation, from London to Kingston. A member of the “Au-delà du club” collective, she defends the idea that the dancefloor is a political space, at the heart of societal transformations.
